Launched under the aegis of the Ministry of Tourism, in partnership with the Maroc PME agency, Go Siyaha promises substantial aid to revitalize tourist activities and accommodation, particularly in Morocco’s Souss-Massa region. Go Siyaha stands out for its financial incentives, aimed specifically at tourist entertainment and accommodation projects. For entertainment projects, a 35% bonus is offered to investors for investments of between 1 and 10 MDH, while a 30% bonus is allocated to accommodation projects of the same scale.
The aid is targeted at Moroccan start-ups that are not yet generating sales, as well as cooperatives, offering a helping hand to young structures in the early stages of their activity. Faced with its outdated hotel stock, Agadir is also benefiting from a 632 MDH budget to renovate its accommodation establishments. Six calls for expressions of interest (AMI) have already resulted in investments in the renovation of some 7,721 beds, representing a third of the city’s hotel capacity. These modernization efforts aim to improve the welcome for national and international tourists, despite the administrative and logistical challenges faced by hoteliers.
The Go Siyaha program is not limited to investment bonuses: it also provides technical support covering areas such as digital transformation, operational excellence and sustainable development. A special 40% bonus is awarded to eco-responsible projects, encouraging companies to integrate green growth practices into their tourism activities.
Tourism revival in figures
Agadir’s results for the first ten months of 2024 are encouraging. The destination welcomed over 1.16 million visitors, up 14.01% on 2023 and 15.66% on 2019. British tourists, in particular, contributed strongly to this performance, accounting for 18.71% of arrivals and even surpassing French tourists in terms of overnight stays, according to data from the Ministry of Tourism. With an integrated vision and well-targeted support measures, Go Siyaha embodies an ambition to renew Moroccan tourism, making it more competitive, sustainable and diversified. This program could give Agadir and other Moroccan destinations the impetus they need to attract more visitors, especially in a global context where innovation and sustainability have become essential.
The Go Siyaha program is thus a strategic growth lever for the Moroccan tourism sector, with the hope of restoring Agadir to its rightful place in the national and international tourism landscape.
