The 14,000 m² complex represents an investment of 110 million US dollars, and marks a milestone in the Group’s presence in Egypt. With a production capacity of 1.5 million appliances a year, the complex will provide 2,000 jobs for Egyptians. Beko plans to export 60% of its production to markets in the Middle East, Africa and Europe, with an export value of up to $250 million a year. The complex will also manufacture appliances for other international brands such as Whirlpool, Ariston, Indesit and Hitachi.

He added that this initiative was part of a wider strategy to attract international companies to Egypt. “We have succeeded in attracting three giant companies, including Haier, Beko and Bosch“, he said, pointing out that other large factories will soon be inaugurated in the country.
A strategic contribution to the Egyptian economy
Ümit Günel, Managing Director of Beko Egypt, stressed the importance of this project for the local economy:

He added that the complex will use 50% local components, which will encourage Egyptian suppliers to improve their performance and position themselves on the map of global competition according to ahram.org.eg. The Prime Minister also visited a refrigerator testing laboratory, designed to assess the energy stability of the appliances, as well as the various manufacturing and packaging stages within the complex.
